HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY, ABIGAIL!!!!!!!!!

Abigail turned THREE on Monday – HOORAY! Our precious baby is becoming such a “big girl,” and we are so proud of her. In honor of her special day, we had a sweet little party with the four of us Ivys, and my friend, Amber, who is here visiting for a little while. As part of the celebration, Abigail’s sweet Daddy read the definition of “joy” and retold the story of how she received her name…

ABIGAIL JOY IVY
joy: the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying; keen pleasure; elation

Joy was the emotion so strongly felt by Lee the first time he heard our first baby’s heartbeat recorded while in the womb. I had left a taped recording of this most precious sound because Lee was out of town on a business trip when I left for a mission trip. The doctor’s visit had been scheduled in the interim. While I was in Peru, Lee arrived back home and heard the tape. In his email to me, he wrote that upon hearing the heartbeat, all he could think was, “Joy! Joy! Joy!” So, I suggested that if the baby was a girl, maybe Joy could be her name…

After learning that the baby was indeed a girl, we selected Abigail, a name of Hebrew origin which means “a father’s joy,” or “father of exaltation.” We had three “joys” to work in (Joy! Joy! Joy!) and chose Joy as her middle name. So, Abigail’s name means “a father’s joy joy.” The only way we know to get that third one in there will be to marry her off to a Mr. Joy! It could happen...

Happy Birthday, sweet Abigail! We love you more than we ever thought possible and are so proud of you. You bring us such great joy, and we thank the Lord for entrusting you to us. May He bless you and keep you… may He make His face to shine upon you all the days of your life.

Love,
Daddy & Mommy

Children too are a gift from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb, a reward.
~ Psalm 127:3
